Is your matcha ceremonial grade?
Yes. Our signature matcha is 100% ceremonial grade, made from the youngest leaves picked during the spring harvest. We also offer flavored and baking-grade matcha blends.
Where is your matcha sourced from?
We source our matcha directly from tea farms in Uji (Kyoto), Shizuoka, Yame (Fukuoka), and Kagoshima. Regions known for producing some of Japan’s highest-quality matcha.
Is your matcha really from Japan?
Yes. All of our matcha is authentically sourced from farms in Japan. No fillers, no imports from other countries just pure Japanese tea.
Do you have certifications?
Yes. Our ceremonial matcha is certified organic under the Japanese Agricultural Standard (JAS), ensuring it meets strict guidelines for organic cultivation in Japan.
We conduct independent lab testing for heavy metals, radiation, and pesticide residues to guarantee purity and safety. If you're a distributor, retailer and would like to view the certification or lab test report, please contact us and we’ll gladly provide the documents.
Is your matcha vegan and gluten-free?
Yes! All of our matcha products are vegan, gluten-free, non-GMO, and sugar-free, unless otherwise specified in flavored blends.
Why is your matcha more affordable than others?
NIWA is originally based in Uji, Kyoto. By working directly with local tea farmers and handling production at the source, we eliminate the need for middlemen, overseas brokers, and inflated retail pricing.
We then send directly to ourselves to Rotterdam, which allows us to keep our costs transparent and pass the savings on to you without compromising on quality. We have matcha that is organic (JAS-certified), stone-ground, and harvested during the spring flush from the youngest leaves.
Where do you ship?
We ship worldwide from Rotterdam, the harbour of The Netherlands. Please visit our Shipping page for specific details.
